Follow the rainbow

Red…
Orange…
Yellow…
Green…
Blue…
Indigo…
Violet…

Translucent, but vibrant arching across the sky above. Each color merging and blending into the next in a display of the natural wonder of the universe

At the very sight of one I will stop whatever I am doing in the moment to fully absorb the beautiful dance of colors cascading above me.

They are magical to me.

I remember the stories I was told when I was younger; Folk tales of leprechauns and pots of gold waiting at the end of these colorful arches. The stories, the possibilities, all of what they represent can, will and still stretch my imagination past the limited condition of the reality of which I live in daily.

Shimmering glimpses, quick flashes of the colorful life that awaits for me as I continue through this process of self-discovery.

The possibilities that allow me to see that the pot of gold is not a big cauldron filled with shimmering coins and jewels, but only the dreams I have within me brilliantly painted with the vibrant Technicolor hues that shine at the end of each rainbow.

The rainbow is me.
The colors are me.
The possibilities are all there…..if I follow the rainbow.

I found this book I made when I was in the fourth grade….I thought it would be my first bestseller, but alas it was only my first footsteps in the directions of living my dreams. Even then I had a thing about rainbows…..but now I understand why.

(Keep in mind I was in the FOURTH grade when I did this…so be nice)

The book of rainbows

The Book of Rainbows
By: Morgan MacGregor
4th grade

Dedication...lol ????

I dedicate this book to my neighbor Chris, who adores rainbows.
(I can’t believe I dedicated this to my neighbor…lol)

After a big rainstorm, rainbows come.
(WOW)

Rainbows are caused by the Sun’s rays and the wet moisture in the air.
If you would like to make a rainbow here’s how:

Take a hose and on a sunny day squirt the hose towards the sun and see a rainbow.
(Pretty complex huh!)

Rainbows are enjoyed by everyone. They are by me. What about you?
(Come on it’s a rainbow)
(There it is!)
(Didn’t you alert the world when a rainbow came???? Fun, fun, fun)

A legend says that at the end of a rainbow there’s a pot of gold.
(Not much of an ending…no drama or crazy plot line twists)

The End!

It’s amazing that the same process that allows a rainbow to appear from separated parts of itself is the very same process of my life.

Me.
My Life.
The contrasts of colors.

Until all of itself is recognized, all of it’s parts accounted for; the good, bad or even indifferent…the beauty of itself cannot be fully realized.

Just like me and my own process

When the moment is right…the conditions are ideal…then only does the magnificent and wondrous magic appear dancing across the sky…gently reminding me of the path I walk upon as I continue to follow my own rainbow.

Hope you enjoyed a little slice of my imagination today!!!!!

  4. I love your rainbow drawings! They are adorable:) The rainbow is like the colours of our feelings and moods. If I could just be the bright happy colours of the rainbow everyday, it would be so nice!

  8. You are an artist too? :)

I love rainbows 2. I was “golfing” once of all places, and saw a double rainbow to the North, and a small half rainbow to the South. They were so magnificent that I had to just stop for a while.

  13. Wow Morgan you were a talented writer even then. It’s great that you found that piece and were able to reflect on it today.

I think it’s you who is at the end of the rainbow. We’re just here for the ride.

    Thanks for sharing.
