What a vivid picture you create here, immediately translated into my own childhood adventures.

For me the adventure lay in a small hill at the end of our court over which lay a stream (a drainage channel really but that did not fuel the imagination so much). Overgrown with trees, wildflowers and blackberries this was one forbidden place which we would escape to to create our fantasies. The other lay in an unlikely place, the implications of which we were too young to grasp - hours and hours spent playing on the flat thick concrete roofs of the old air raid shelters that sat at the bottom of every garden in our street (thankfully now used for storage, not regular nocturnal escapes from bombers). I took full advantage of what was on my own doorstep.

I no longer look for adventures, thrills and fantasy to satisfy me but over time I did come back full circle to appreciating what is here on my own doorstep - my life as it is, with whatever ups and downs and changes it may bring. Thank you for the reminder.
I think I have to say Thank you for reminding me as well.....life is like that it often lead you right back to square one in order to show you that everything you need is already here

That comfort zone is almost an addiction in a sense. It's safe, fearless, and - well, a little stagnant. New fresh arenas in life challenge us, show are inner mind that we are capable of adventuring out into the unknown.
This is a perfect following post after gaining faith. How many never realize their own potential, and never experience the heart pounding excitement that vigorizes the soul. Jump that fence and run!
Hey Speedy...
AHHHHH that comfort zone..it is an addiction...the addiction to pain, to the same things. And a place that as you mentioned is STAGNANT....think I'm gonna go jump the fence now and RUN!
Thank you for stopping by!

You words paint a beautiful picture of long ago days of childhood laughter and discovery. Feel that joy again, that freedom to be. Thanks for taking us there.

Thank you for bringing me back to my childhood and my own set of neighborhood boundaries which I too dared to cross. I love your poetic style of writing, and your story, and your message is strong and beautiful. -Mike.
thanks Mike and welcome to my site...I'm off to check you out now!
