Help for those addicted.

In my daily day to day experiences, I come across may other people addicted to substances in one form or another. People I knew way back, that now know that I am clean as well as new people I come across that are looking to get clean.

A lot of them ask me what to do, where to go and how to stop using. I do my best to help others because I know that without the aid of those that helped me I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I got clean by admitting myself into a detox followed by a drug rehab. I also followed this course of action up with an intensive outpatient drug treatment. But the process of drug rehabilitation did not stop there.

From my first day out of a drug rehab I utilized the help available within the 12 step programs that focus on the maintenance of recovery through self-help. It’s the process I utilize to continue to stay abstinent and keep moving forward in the process of recovery.

With all the varying opinions on the proper methods of “treating” addictions, someone looking for help could be led into a place of inaction through all the different treatment approaches.

So how does someone choose a particular treatment from all that exist?

Detox?
Rehab?
Medicine”
Psychiatry?
Lock yourself in a room till the cravings pass?

I always just checked into the local detox following with a 30 day stint in a rehab and following this up with outpatient treatment for addiction as well as outside self-help methods.

I was fortunate to have these services available to me at the time I became willing to do something about the problem, but the longer I stay clean and come across those who are not I find that the options I once had the opportunity to explore are not available anymore.

Many detox’s in the area I live have closed and insurance companies are no longer willing to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on stays in rehabs for “addicts’ that can’t seem to get or stay clean. But that mindset would have kept me using for a lot longer then I would have liked if I didn’t seek out treatment of one kind or another.

I don’t claim to have “The Answer” to treatment of an addiction of any kind, all I know is what worked for me and continues to work for me. I’m always on the lookout for the other methods that are applied to treat addiction and the problems that accompany it. There are a tremendous amount of “services” that promise a lot of things and I also know that a people caught up in the grips often at times are a a loss to where to go for a solution.

And that’s when I usually get a phone call……

A site that I have found to be of immense value in finding different treatment options that are available can be found here at 4Rehabilitation.com.

It is a guide of the many types of services that can be available to an addict that wishes to seek some type of rehabilitation. There is a wealth of information in regards to the options available for the treatment of addiction to different substances, an overview of the substances one could be addicted to and resources that offer help to those seeking it.

If you or someone you know has a problem with drugs or alcohol and want to do something about it, or if you just want more information about what type of help is available, you can find resources to guide you in the process by visiting the website at 4Rehabilitation.com. or by calling 1-888-503-1969.
