Love falling

It has been unseasonably warm for this time of the year and the normal display of Mother natures spectacular brush stokes of color upon the canvas of autumn has been detained.

But they started changing recently.

I love the contrast of colors against the clear crisp autumn sky. The vibrancy of the red, orange and yellows bursting with life as they transform from the the steady greens of summer into the flecks of color that glitter in the sky above.

The beautiful colors always provide me an inner comfort that validates the beauty that exists within the constants of change that are always occurring.

And the leaves…… they fall.

A simple caress from the whispering wind releases the life from above in a cascade of glittering gold caught in a stream of sunlight; guiding these treasures gently and lovingly to the next phase of existence down to the world below.

The yellows waltz, flickering in the sunlight.
The oranges twist and turn, twirling through the air.
The reds glide gently on the ebb and flow of the autumn breeze.
Gently, softly, quietly with ease they settle to the ground below.

It always reminds me of when I was little and life was filled with the fantastic joy of simplicity, when faith and trust could be found in a pile of raked leaves.

There are more then a few trees on my property and it becomes necessary to pile them up as fast as they begin to fall. Raking the leaves was never the part that I enjoyed….but the rewards of jumping in them was pure delight.

My younger Brother and I would maneuver the leaves into enormous piles till we had several shaped like small pyramids randomly scattered through the backyard. Dressed in our sneakers, hats and winter coats we would stand as far back as possible, lace our fingers together and race towards a pile as fast as out little legs could carry us. Just before we reached the pile we would close our eyes, grasp each others hands a bit tighter, hold our breath…….

….and then we would jump.

There was always that moment, that point in time, that second filled with the anticipation of impact. The little space of uncertainty after the leap of faith that would gently embrace us and guide us softly down into the sea of leaves.

Landing softly and sinking into the pile that enveloped us in it’s sweet musty scent, an explosion of colors would fan out around us. Time almost seemed to stop, the leaves would float above us, gently falling back down to the ground and there was no sound except the rustling of leaves and then our giggles.

Life in all of it’s complexities and wonder is often like that little leap of faith. That moment of space between the comfort of solid ground and the excitement of unfamiliar territory. When for a split second in time it becomes possible to exist fully and completely in a space between two points of known and unknown.

Love is like that.

A moment of uncertainty where dreams not yet dreamed, experiences not yet lived, paths not yet traveled, all exist fully and at once in the sea of infinite possibilities. A place where I exist in complete and total perfection of self….within my inner spirit.

The non-physical aspect of where I truly exist, where the creative forces of the universe paint my deepest dreams in a vivid display of color upon the canvas of my life using only the sparks of hope that flicker up from deep within

It is here where I find the courage to live a life free from limitations.

The courage to take a leap of faith into the unknown spaces of life and to know fully I will be met warmly by the all knowing embrace of trust. Where my fiery passion for life becomes fueled when I allow myself to be guided gently and lovingly to the next phase of existence in this journey of my life….

Waltzing.
Flickering.
Twisting.
Twirling.
Gliding.

Dancing in on the constant changing ebb and flow of the whispering winds of the universe. Gently, softly and quietly with ease, nudging me closer to remembering who I want to be…who I already am.

  2. I love fall too, but unfortunately we weren’t able to enjoy the falling leaves for long this year. Winter’s here now and one day it’s snowing, the next day it’s raining… Can’t wait for it to get little colder so the snow stays, it’s always a little lighter outside when there’s snow.

Hey Susie…I wish I knew more about the climate of where you are from. Rain is nice…but there is something very soothing in the silence of a steady snow as well.

  3. This post brings all of these fall memories into my mind. How can you not have fun jumping into a pile of leaves as a kid?
There is the genius of it :-)

Hey Speedy…I know it was so much fun…I still sort of do it with my little nieces and nephews, although the fall has become a bit rougher as I’m now 33 and not 7…lol
